Immunize for Good Siting at Denver Health.

10/01 2013

This may come as a shock to many of you, but despite my penchant for abysmally high heels and brightly patterned sun dresses, I’m actually a pretty outdoorsy chick. In fact, this coming February I’m headed to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with my sister—a journey that requires a healthy dose of immunizations.

Since I’m an early bird in pretty much everything I do, I decided to make my travel clinic appointment for yesterday morning, nearly 5 months before my departure, to get my shots over and done-with. So I woke up bright and early (not an easy feat because I’d been up late the night before watching the finale of Breaking Bad—SPOILER ALERT—thank goodness Jesse hightailed his “bitch”-sayin’ ass outta there…) and drove down to Denver Health.

Now, why-oh-why-oh-why am I rambling on and telling you all this? Because there’s only one thing that could have cheered me up while I sat in that waiting room anticipating the impending onslaught of needles: seeing some of my hard work in action. Yep, looking up from my red faux leather chair I could see a postcard I’d created for the Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition during my time at rabble+rouser. It even tickled me to the point that I ignored the “No Cell Phones” sign on the wall to snap a quick pic. Ahhh, the fruits of my past labor. Now that’s how you take the sting out of an MMR injection.
